Outsourcing to India

India is famed for its outsourcing industry. Anywhere from one-half to two-thirds of all Fortune 500 companies are already outsourcing to India, and, the amount of work done there for foreign companies is expected to more than double in 2006. The outsourcing to India trend has evolved during the last years and to date also includes all types of knowledge-based activities – not just call centers and data processing facilities at the low end of the value chain but also software programming, engineering, design, and a broad array of professional services (such as lawyers, accountants, actuaries, medical workers and doctors, consultants, and financial analysts) at the upper end of the value chain.

Due to the maturity of the outsourcing market, also small and mid-sized companies can benefit from Indian outsourcing opportunities.
